After the 1870 war, braces started to expand rapidly.
The first braces were handmade and rigid, "workers braces" were made of sheet cloth and "bourgeois braces" were often made of leather.
The first looms to manufacture braces were made of wood and conceived by Rouen, Duval and Gosse.
In 1826, another Frenchman Antheaume, a simple cloth weaver, invented the tubularĀ "hollow" cloth. He built up a "six-tape loom" which, along with rubber threads coming from England, enabled the manufacture of elastic braces.
Since then, braces have undergone several changes mainly with regard their fastening.
Following the "Russian braces" invented around 1836, the "to and fro" was soon replaced by another system called the "slurcock".
The "shorten braces" were invented in 1850 and later on the elastic "Mikados" were favoured by the users, then came the clips. Since then braces have become a full fashionable accessory for both its use and aesthetics.
In June 2008, a Loire-based company created new harness-shaped revolutionary braces with specific linking straps and had them patented:
BICLIP ® was born !
More than an evolution, BICLIP ® has completely rethought the ergonomics of braces thanks to its harness shape with self-adjustable straps and just
2 clips.
